Description

In this video I want to give a quick introduction to strumming with alternating bass notes. This is a terrific way to add some bounce, movement, and energy to your regular strums. In the cheat sheet I made for this lesson, I show you two ways to approach all of the most common chords using this technique – I suggest saving the PDF and keeping it handy, should you ever want to refer to these patterns when playing future songs!

I plan on following up with a more in-depth lesson looking at this technique, but wanted to share this quick video (and the PDF cheat sheet) in the meantime. Enjoy!

If the idea of playing just the bass note (of any given chord) is tricky, check out my introduction to bass-note strumming. This is an technique I’d 100% suggest getting familiar with before you attempt alternating bass note strumming. My video is below, check out the lesson page (linked at the start of this paragraph) for the PDF guide.
