The Gifting Process, Step by Step

You Purchase the Gift
First, you purchase the gift by sending me a payment for 12 months (~~$99~~ $79 USD) of Premium membership. This is done via PayPal donation, which does not require a PayPal account. The button to send this payment is below... but please read all these instructions first!
I'll Send You a Magic Link
Shortly after I receive the PayPal funds, I'll email you (the gift giver) a special link you can share with the recipient. Note, because this is a manual process, it may take me a few hours to send you the activation link (depending on time of day, etc).
You Send the Link to the Gift Recipient
At your leisure, you send the gift recipient the special link. They'll use this link to setup and activate their membership. I suggest you send it to them via email, so they can click on it from their computer, tablet, or smartphone.
The Recipient Begins Their Membership
The gift recipient clicks the link, enters their email address, sets a password, and their Premium membership is instantly activated. They’ll be logged in right away and can start enjoying all the Premium content immediately. Simple as that!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does it take a few hours (or more) to receive the activation link?

Simply because I'm doing things manually — which ensures things are done correctly.

In reality, I reply with your activation link as soon as I see your email and have a free moment. This may take a few hours if I'm away from the computer, busy recording new lessons, sleeping, etc.

For fastest results, gifts purchased during the working hours (Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm Central US Time) should be replied to with relatively minimal delay.

Will monthly plans ever be available for gifting?

Maybe! But for now, to keep things simple, I'm only offering the 1 year option.

What happens when the gifted plan expires?

Gifted memberships do not automatically renew... they're a one-time charge that you (the gift-giver) pays for.

After the gifted membership expires, the gift recipient can join a paid plan at any time to regain access to Premium content.

What exactly is included with Premium membership?

Note, gifted members receive the exact same benefits as "normal" members (who pay for membership themselves).

I'm already a paying member and received a gifted membership. What do I do?

If you recieved a gift and are already an active (paying) member, you should wait until your current membership expires (or is canceled) before activating the gifted membership. This ensures you don't have overlapping memberships.

When a gift is activated, it begins a 12-month membership window for the recipient. Gifted memberships do not "add a year" to an existing membership. You can view your current membership plan at songnotes.net/account.

Do gifted memberships renew automatically?

Nope! There's no auto-renewal with gifted memberships. It's a one-time purchase.

When a gifted membership expires, I email the receipient to let them know their year of gifted access has ended. If they wish to continue membership, they can join a monthly or annual plan.
