Does Premium membership removes ads from YouTube?

I’ve been posting to YouTube since 2013. For the first ten years, most of my uploaded videos had ads enabled. This means YouTube might show an ad at some point during the video. This enabled me to earn some revenue to offset the hard work I put into each video.

However, sometime in 2023 I stopped enabling ads on all new videos I uploaded. This means you should never see an ad when watching any of those more-recent videos on YouTube. However, my older videos (2013-2013) still have ads enabled.

Even if you are a Premium member here on songnotes.net, you will see ads on some of my old YouTube videos.

I may change this one day. For example, I’ve thought about having a non-ad version of each video available for logged in members here at songnotes.net. If this is something you’d find desireable as a Premium member, please let me know.

Non-YouTube Ads

I have never run any third-party ads or pop-ups on my website since launching it in 2013. I take great pride in being primarily supported by my audience, via Premium membership. Compare this to so many other websites who are littered with shady banner ads and annoying pop-ups.

A Quick Note About YouTube Premium

As a final note, if you use YouTube regularly — I absolutely recommend YouTube Premium. It’s a monthly fee (no relation to my Song Notes business), but it removes all ads on YouTube. It also enables YouTube videos to play on your phone (audio-only) even when the screen is off. Of all the monthly streaming subscriptions I pay for, YouTube Premium is by far the one I enjoy the most.
