About This Lesson
In today’s lesson I’ll walk you through I’m a Little Crazy by Morgan Wallen, showing you a handful of ways to approach the song using fingerstyle. This is a song you can fingerpicking a few different ways, depending on your skill level. After teaching you to strum things, I’ll then show a step-by-step approach to playing it with Travis-style fingerpicking (using alternating bass notes with your right thumb).
I’ll build up to the arrangement that Morgan Wallen’s guitar player is using, which I actually don’t recommend for most guitar players given the difficulty. At the end of my video you can see my personal approach to putting it all together, where I embrace a simpler approach during the sections where I sing — and then using my preferred melodic instrumental arrangement as a break after each chorus. Note, Tony Eichele (Wallen’s guitar player) actually plays this using Drop D tuning. I’m not doing that, as it doesn’t impact any of the fingerstyle on the thinnest 5 strings.
